George Hrehowesik

March 17, 1941 – June 15, 2014

George Robert Hrehowesik, 73, entered into eternal life on Sunday, June 15, 2014 at Lehigh Valley-Muhlenberg Hospital in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Born in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, son of the late George Anthony and Adelaide (Badolato) Hrehowesik, he settled to Delaware Township in 1975.

George faithfully served his country with the National Guard from 1961 to 1967. He retired in 1988 from Mid-Jersey Trucking Teamsters Local #701 in North Brunswick, New Jersey. Although retired, George remained active as a self-employed General Contractor. His involvement and dedication to various organizations and his community, over the years, included but was not limited to; Mayor and Committeeman of Delaware Township, Chairman and member of the Hunterdon County Municipal Alliance, Sergeantsville Volunteer Fire Company, Auxiliary Member, Teamsters Retiree Local #701, Delaware Township Recreation Committee, and cofounder of the Delaware Township Great Crate Race. George was currently serving on the environmental committee in Delaware Township and was an active member of the Republican Club. He received “Volunteer of the Year” for his contributions to Delaware Township and Volunteer of the Year Commendation from the New Jersey Governor’s Council on Alcoholism & Drug Awareness. George loved fishing, hunting, boating, and camping, but was especially fond of time spent with his family.

George leaves behind to cherish his memory, beloved wife of thirty-nine years, Rose (Horber) Hrehowesik, with whom he joined hands in marriage on May 31, 1975; two loving children, daughter, Janet Hrehowesik and daughter and son-in-law, Stacie and Jason Faber; adored granddaughter, Emmaline Faber; dear sister-in-law and brother-in-law, William and Anne Francis; cherished mother-in-law, Rose Horber, as well as, lifelong family and friends

FDT is a charitable organization exempt from taxation under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.  All funds collected by FDT are tax deductible, but donors understand and agree that whether the funds they choose to donate are specifically earmarked for a particular honoree or are for general support of FDT, a percentage of those funds will be used to maintain the commendations and memorials and to support the general operations of the organization.
